Our Class Governor is Katherine Griffiths.

Week commencing : 04.02.19

This week the children have enjoyed our Online Safety Day where they learnt about permission and self-image.

In Maths, we have been looking at fractions and how to change improper fractions to mixed numbers and vice versa. This tricky work has not phased 5S who have challenged themselves. The children have enjoyed playing on TT Rockstars.

Our new 'supercalifragilistic' board is set to be crammed full with all the amazing work that 5S has completed this week. The children enjoyed the new finger lights in our classroom to help with reading and editing our work.

This week in R.E. during our new Come and See topic of Memorial Sacrifice, the children enjoyed sharing memories. We wrote our favourite memories on our RE display and shared memories with each other. We looked at where memories come from and how important they are. The children had some amazing memories to share with one another.

It has been an exciting week!

Have a good weekend,

Miss Sledge

What we have been learning this week:

Week commencing : 28.1.19

This week the children have enjoyed seeing the snow outside the classroom window. Despite the frosty weather, the children have been working very hard.

In Maths, we have been dividing 4 digit numbers by a single digit and also looked at division with remainders. The children's overwhelming resilience was fantastic and this showed in the amount of work they completed. The children have also been enjoying TT Rockstars and the 'hot seat' challenge in class.

Our new 'supercalifragilistic' board is set to be crammed full with all the amazing work that 5S has completed.

The children enjoyed investigating reversible and irreversible changes in science. We tried to make jelly with different temperatures and discussed once this was set, if it was a reversible or irreversible change.

This week in R.E. during our Come and See Remember topic we have continued to explore Jesus' mission. The children decorated footprints for our display to emphasise how we can follow in the the footsteps of Jesus' mission.

What we have been learning this week:

Week commencing : 21.1.19

This week has been the first full week of Miss Sledge as class teacher. The children have created some fantastic work which I am sure you are excited to see at parents' evening.

In Maths, we are continuing to multiply up to 4 digit numbers by 2 digits. We have put into practice our personal best theme of resilience. Due to the children's determination, we have enjoyed the challenge of multiplication in lessons.

Our new 'supercalifragilistic' board has allowed the children to showcase some of their fantastic English work. The children have been writing diary entries from the perspective of a character and used synonyms for 'good', 'bad', 'sad' and 'nice'.

The children have really enjoyed talking about holidays and how they have changed over time in history based on our topic of 'oh I do like to be beside the seaside'. The children participated in discussing different types of holidays and enjoyed talking about why we go on holiday.

This week in R.E. during our Come and See Reveal topic we have continued to explore Jesus' mission. The children explored the work of other Diocese across the country. We look forward to our remember session next week, where we will plan a collective worship as a class to celebrate all our work throughout this interesting unit.

It has been an exciting week!

Have a good weekend,

Miss Sledge

In our RE lessons this week, we have started to think of all the different ways in which we can wait in hope for the coming of the Messiah.  We have created our very own advent calendar in class - please see the photographs below.  The children have been thinking of things they can do throughout the season of advent as we wait for the birth of Jesus Christ.

We had our final session with the South Ribble tag rugby coach.  Andy was impressed with the progress the children had made with their passing and rugby skills over the 5 week course.

5H meet our class governor - 18th October 2018

Today we had a meet and greet session with our class governor: Mrs Katherine Griffiths.  She came into 5H to tell us all about her role as a governor.  The children had lots of questions for Mrs Griffiths, especially related to her day job as a podiatrist.  We look forward to welcoming Mrs Griffiths into our classroom throughout the school year.
