Lenten Campaign 2021

Lenten Campaign 2021

Dear Parents,

Water is life!

Like many things this year, we are organising our Lenten Campaign a little differently. This year, we are supporting CAFOD to help people in the Ethiopia to have access to clean and safe water.

This Lent, our school can Walk for Water to help people from Ethiopia. We will be learning about a little boy called Abdella who lives in a remote village in Afar, Ethiopia – one of the hottest, driest places in the world. To keep his family alive, he must walk for ten hours through the mountains to collect just two jerry cans of water. Sadly, there are billions of people around the world like Abdella. But we can help bring clean water to the people who need it most.

Our aim this Lent, is to Walk for Water with CAFOD and together we can reach remote communities with solar powered water pumps and make a massive difference.

How do we join the Water Droplet Trail?

  1. As a family, prior to Wednesday 17th February 2021 (the start of Lent) download the water droplet template .
  2. Each person should fill in the water droplet or draw and decorate their own! Don't forget to include 'I'm walking for water with CAFOD'.
  3. Put your water droplet in a window that can be seen from outside your house.
  4. When you go out for a walk in the area, look out for other people displaying the CAFOD water droplet! How many can you find? REMEMBER – watch your distance and stay safe.

How can my walking raise money?

There are many ways you can use the water droplet trail to help our global neighbours:

  • Count how many water droplets you find – donate some money for each one.
  • Set a challenge for how far your family can walk, or a target for how much you can raise.
  • You could get friends and family to sponsor your Water Droplet Trail walk – how many days can you do it for? How far can you go?

How can I donate?

  1. Donate online
  2. Parents can Set up a JustGiving page to collect sponsorship money for your walking and track your progress.
  3. Parents can text CAFOD to 70480 to donate £5

Texts cost £5 plus one standard rate message and you’ll be opting in to hear more about our work and fundraising via telephone and SMS. If you’d like to give £5 but do not wish to receive marketing communications, text CAFODNOINFO to 70480.

In school we will be using an interactive calendar from CAFOD to guide us through Lent. We will be learning about people who need our love, prayers and support. Let’s see if we can help others in need and make a real difference to those who are less fortunate than us.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs L. Moon
