Letter from the Head teacher COVID - 19

17th March 2020

Dear Parents

I am writing to update you on the current situation in school and the actions we have put in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The safety of our pupils and staff is paramount so we feel the following actions are necessary, at this time.

At the moment, school remains open and we are continuing to follow the updated government advice. (See the latest news section on the school website).   We have also asked staff who are vulnerable to work from home. If you are concerned that your child may be in a vulnerable group please don’t hesitate to contact school to discuss your situation.

In school we will be taking the following precautions, until the Easter break, when these will be reviewed:

  • All assemblies will cease and collective worship will take place in class
  • All PE fixtures will be cancelled
  • Extra-curricular activities will cease to run
  • Non-essential visits and visitors will be cancelled
  • Children will follow a strict handwashing system throughout the day
  • Swimming will be cancelled
  • The Mother’s Day event will go ahead but we will minimize contact with other classes
  • The Tinies group will be cancelled
  • Class masses / assemblies and collective worships (for parents) will be cancelled
  • School staff will not attend non-essential external meetings or training
  • Multi-agency meetings will be suspended in school and will be conducted via email or telephone, where possible
  • We will collect in library and reading books (further information to follow)

We will continue to send out the latest government advice, as we receive it. Teachers are busy preparing home learning activities in the eventuality that the school may be forced to close or partially close due to a government directive or staff shortages.

Thank you for your continued support during this difficult time. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Jillian Holmes
