'Bonjour et bienvenue à la section Française du site de l'école primaire St Teresa's'

Hello and welcome to the French section of the St Teresa's

Primary School Website

At St Teresa's Catholic Primary School, we teach French as our chosen Modern Foreign Language.

In Key Stage 2, children receive a French lesson every week from year 3 through to year 6. The knowledge and skills developed are speaking and listening, reading, writing, grammar, language learning strategies and intercultural understanding. Our MFL curriculum is designed to instill a love of language learning using popular topics, themes and vocabulary deepening their knowledge and understanding as they progress through KS2.

Children learn by listening to French speakers, reading, writing and speaking French. It is taught interactively through stories, songs, poems, and puppets with a clear age related progression of skills .

Our aim is that by the time our children leave in Year 6, they will be fully prepared for language lessons at secondary school.
We have just completed a very successful after school Italian club with the year 5 and 6 children.  The children enjoyed learning the basics of a new language including numbers, colours, animals and even participated in basic conversations using simple sentences.  During the final week the children loved sampling some iconic Italian food.
Year 3 and 4 Spanish after school club.
The year 3 and 4 children have just completed and really enjoyed a 6 week Spanish after school club.  We learnt all about different names, colours, numbers, Spanish dancing and even looked at Spanish Christmas traditions.
